Mark Leonard trained as an artist until deciding to pursue a career in paintings restoration. He began his work as a restorer at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and then moved to Los Angeles where he spent twenty-six years at the J. Paul Getty Museum. Beginning in 2009, he returned to working full-time as an independent artist, until, in 2012, he was invited by the Dallas Museum of Art to become the museum’s first Chief Conservator. In 2017 he returned to California and resumed his focus on his own works.
